Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
Frozen shoulder can be painful, frustrating, and limiting. It often develops gradually, making simple tasks like reaching overhead, fastening a bra, or even sleeping comfortably difficult. At Alara Women’s Health, we understand how much this condition can affect daily life, and we’re here to provide holistic, supportive care to help restore movement, reduce pain, and get you back to the activities you love.
What is Frozen Shoulder?
Frozen shoulder (or adhesive capsulitis) happens when the shoulder joint capsule thickens and becomes stiff, limiting movement and causing pain. It often develops in stages:
- Freezing stage: Increasing pain and gradual loss of movement.
- Frozen stage: Pain may lessen, but stiffness remains and movements feel restricted.
- Thawing stage: Gradual improvement in mobility and function.
It can be linked to injury, post-surgery recovery, hormonal changes (including menopause), or sometimes it appears without a clear cause.
